Every few years, Bergens Tidende designates 30 leadership talents under the age of 30 who are predicted to become influential members of society in the years to come. The first time Bergens Tidende made this selection was in 2005, and the second time was in 2013. 

Umid Alem (22) was born in Uzbekistan to Afghan parents and came to Norway as a ten-year-old quota refugee. Alem had barely settled in before he decided to make a difference. He was involved in AUF before starting his studies at BI and held several leadership positions in various organizations. He is the youngest candidate selected for Bergen Opportunity, which is Bergen Chamber of Commerce’s mentorship program for talents with multicultural backgrounds.

 
Despite his young age, Alem has been a mentor for much older business Executives.
